Understanding Your Insurance Options
The following are accepted Medical Insurances Plans Phillips Eye Center/Hudson Eye Care accepts at our NJ location:
* Insurances accepted change frequently and varies for each physician by location. When scheduling your appointment, please verify that your doctor accepts your insurance at the office location you plan to visit.
Soon after you are scheduled for surgery, we will contact your insurance carrier for verification of your insurance. After identifying the extent of your coverage we can determine your financial responsibility. Any fees that are incurred include the use of operating room, supplies, or nursing care provided during your procedure at the facility. These fees are in addition to the amount paid to your surgeon for their services. We can assure you that we will make every effort to maximize your insurance coverage and reduce your out-of-pocket expense.
We will advise you of any and all financial responsibilities in advance of your surgery to ensure your complete understanding. Please note that any co-pays, outstanding deductibles, and co-insurance will be collected prior to the time of surgery. If your insurance plan requires a referral, it is your obligation to obtain this for your services or your surgery may be postponed. For your convenience, we accept MasterCard, Visa, Discover, checks, and money orders. Payment arrangements must be made prior to surgery.
Occasionally you may be billed for extra services incurred during surgery that are not anticipated in advance. An example of those services could be an implant that is placed by your surgeon, anesthesia administered for certain procedures, or an unusual medicine, etc. Should you have any questions regarding billing, please feel free to contact our billing department before your surgery date at (201) 796-2020 Monday through Friday between the hours of 8am–5pm. We will be happy to assist you!
In addition to our bill, you may receive bills from one or more providers who bill independently including but not limited to:
**Not all physicians participate in all plans. Please check with your insurance carrier for the most up to date information on the status of the specific physician to who you have been referred. Phillips is committed to working with every patient regardless of your insurance coverage in making your medical care affordable. If you do not see your insurance carrier listed or if you are not covered by insurance, please call our office and we will discuss your options.
Many insurance policies have a deductible, co-pay, or coinsurance amount. Sometimes certain charges are not covered under particular policies. This may be the case with your carrier. For certain policies, balance billing is prohibited; we will not bill you for the balance unless called for by your policy and permitted by law. To confirm your responsibility under your policy, if any, you can call your insurance company directly or call the telephone number listed at the bottom of your billing statement for further information.
