FAIRFIELD, NJ (January 20, 2021) – Corneal Associates of New Jersey announces that Boar-Certified Corneal, Cataract and Refractive Surgeon, Shyam Patel, MD, has joined the practice serving patients in their Fairfield, New Jersey office. Dr. Patel specializes in cataract surgery, ocular surface and corneal disorders, corneal transplants, and laser vision correction. His interest lies in the management of cataract and corneal diseases, such as keratoconus and infectious keratitis, laser vision correction (PRK and LASIK), full thickness keratoplasty, and endothelial keratoplasty (DSAEK, DMEK).
Dr. Patel received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Medicine, during which time he also received his MBA from the UAB Collat School of Business. He then completed his ophthalmology residency at the Stroger Hospital of Cook County in Chicago. Dr. Patel completed fellowship training in corneal, anterior segment, and refractive surgery at Eye Consultants of Atlanta. During his time in training, he has presented and authored over 20 presentations and publications ranging from clinical pictures and case reports to retrospective studies and book chapters.
