A 2021 Castle Connolly Top Doctor
Dr. Richman is a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained cataract and glaucoma surgeon. He specializes in the surgical and medical treatment of glaucoma and cataracts. Dr. Richman was selected as a Top Doc by South Jersey Magazine, SJ Magazine, NJ Top Docs and has been honored as One of America’s Top Ophthalmologists. Dr. Richman has patented a novel diagnostic test for the detection and management of glaucoma, named the Spaeth-Richman Contrast Sensitivity Test. He was the first ophthalmologist to implant the iStent trabecular micro bypass in the state of Delaware and has designed a single-step toric marker to aid in the reduction of astigmatism at the time of cataract surgery.
Dr. Richman completed his undergraduate education at Penn State University in State College, PA, earned his M.D. at Jefferson Medical College and completed his transitional internship at Frankford Torresdale Hospital in Philadelphia. During his Ophthalmology residency at Brown University, he was awarded the William Tsiaras Research Award and was appointed Chief Resident of Ophthalmology. He then completed a Glaucoma Fellowship at Wills Eye Hosptal in Philadelphia.
He has published articles, authored chapters in ophthalmic textbooks and presented research at the American Glaucoma Society, the World Glaucoma Conference, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.

Dr. Richman is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and American Glaucoma Society. He is also a faculty member of Wills Eye’s Glaucoma Department, providing lectures and teaching residents.
