Omni Eye Services Welcomes Back Patients Amid COVID-19

May 14, 2020

Iselin, NJ – Omni Eye Services, with 6 offices throughout northern New Jersey and New York, is navigating some changes as it prepares to return to normal patient care and serve more patients. For the last eight weeks, only emergency patients and essential post-surgical care appointments were being seen in-office.

As of 5/18/20, all Omni offices will return to normal schedules seeing regular patient appointments as well as performing surgeries.

Dr. Christopher Quinn says “As we re-open, every precaution is being taken. We have implemented several new protocols with the safety and wellbeing of patients and staff as our top priority. We are so pleased to be able to open our doors to all patients again to receive the essential care they need.”

Omni wants patients to feel confident in their care. Below is a list of the safety protocols in place:

  • Cleaning Protocol – Exam rooms and equipment will be cleaned before and after every patient. Waiting areas, bathrooms, and frequently touched surfaces will be disinfected regularly throughout the day. Magazines have been removed from waiting areas. Hand sanitizer stations are located throughout the offices including at each entrance.
  • Practicing Social Distancing – Waiting area seating will be spaced out approximately 6-feet. Curbside check-in is available for patients so they can wait in their car until they are ready to be seen. A staff member will greet the patient at the front door, check them in, and provide any necessary information. Patients will receive a text when they are ready to be seen.
  • Patient ScreeningPrior to appointment, all patients will be screened including completing a COVID-19 questionnaire. All patients must have their temperature taken before entering the office. If an individual does not pass the questionnaire or temperature check, they will kindly be sent home and rescheduled or moved to a telemedicine appointment.
  • Daily Staff Screenings Staff will be screened daily for symptoms of COVD-19 and receive a temperature check. If a staff member exhibits possible COVID-19 symptoms, they will be quarantined according to current CDC guidelines before returning back to work.
  • Telemedicine – Omni is continuing to offer telemedicine appointments to patients who wish to be seen from the comfort of their home or workplace.

Patient Expectations

All patients and visitors must enter with a mask and be screened by the facility staff.  The mask should cover the mouth and nose.  A mask will be provided for any patient or visitor without a mask. Exceptions will be made for children younger than two years of age, as per the CDC guidance. At this time, patients are not allowed to bring and guests into the office with them unless there is a medical reason. If patients are not feeling well, they are advised to call the office and reschedule or change their appointment to telemedicine.

Telemedicine is Here to Stay

Telemedicine has helped the Omni team triage medical patients over the last 8 weeks. Although the office will be returning to normal clinical operations starting May 18th, the eye center says telemedicine will be staying.
