David J. Bene, M.D., F.A.C.S. is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology specializing in the medical, surgical, and laser treatment of Glaucoma. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a life time member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Bene has provided state-of-the-art medical and surgical treatment for over 30 years. Born and raised in York County, PA. Dr. Bene after medical school was a general surgical resident at Nassau University Medical Center in Long Island New York, and subsequently a resident in internal medicine at St. Vincent’s Hospital/University of Massachusetts . He completed his ophthalmology residency at Temple University in Philadelphia. Upon completion of ophthalmology residency he was a Glaucoma Fellow at the University of Louisville in Kentucky. During this time he participated in Phase 2 and 3 Drug studies with the FDA and acquired surgical techniques. He has co-authored multiple articles in the peer reviewed ophthalmic literature, delivered numerous lectures and authored a chapter in a glaucoma textbook entitled Clinical Pathways in Glaucoma (Thieme Press – 2004). In addition he has presented scientific posters to American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology (AAPOS) and Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO).
Dr. Bene plays the piano and his favorite composers are Bach, Chopin, Mozart, Rodgers/Hart and Mancini. In his spare time Dr. Bene is an active participant in water sports, bike riding, long distance swimming and sailing.
Dr. Bene feels that your vision is extremely important and without good vision it is difficult to perform your normal daily tasks therefore he is an advocate to his patients and enjoys serving the community, where he is dedicated to providing compassion and excellence in eye care.
