Kalla Gervasio, M.D. is a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained oculofacial plastic surgeon. She specializes in aesthetic and functional oculofacial plastic surgery, including the diagnosis, treatment, and surgical correction of many disorders of the eye, eyelid, eyebrow, and face. Dr. Gervasio’s patients love her warm, caring bedside manner along with her ability to provide personalized treatment plans and natural results.
Dr. Gervasio graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude from the University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. in Classical Studies and a Civic Scholars certificate. After college, she spent a year conducting public health research for the Trenton Health Team, Inc. a nonprofit organization in Trenton, NJ. She then went on to medical school at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City where she graduated Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) with a distinction in research.
Dr. Gervasio remained in NYC for a transitional year internship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. She then completed her ophthalmology residency at Wills Eye Hospital where she served as Chief Resident and was selected to be the text editor for the 8th edition of the Wills Eye Manual. She stayed at Wills Eye Hospital for a one-year fellowship in neuro-ophthalmology. She then completed a two-year ASOPRS-accredited fellowship in oculofacial plastic surgery under the guidance of John Holds, M.D. at Ophthalmic Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery, Inc. and Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.
Board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, Dr. Gervasio is also a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society. She has previously presented her research at national meetings, authored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters, and co-founded the Journal of Narrative Visions (JNV), an online journal for narrative medicine pieces related to optometry and ophthalmology.
Outside of work, Dr. Gervasio enjoys spending time with her family, watching Philadelphia sports, traveling, and playing basketball and tennis.
