If you’re interested in moving on from glasses or contacts, one option many patients consider is EVO ICL surgery. Eye surgeons perform this surgical option at many OOMC practices. Learn more about what’s involved in EVO ICL surgery, who is a good candidate, and what to expect below.
EVO is an Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL) that corrects nearsightedness without astigmatism. A small lens, the ICL, is placed in the eye to improve your vision without the aid of glasses or contact lenses. There is no daily maintenance, and the ICL is biocompatible with your body. The ICL should last throughout a patient’s lifetime.
EVO ICL surgery is considered an alternative to LASIK and is categorized as a vision correction surgery. It’s regarded as a minimally invasive option, which includes the benefits of going home the same day and a short procedure length.
Your eye doctor can determine if you are a good candidate for this type of vision correction procedure. It may depend on personal health factors, medications you take, and your eye conditions.
Those who may be a good candidate for EVO Vision ICL Surgery meet the following criteria:
Prior to your surgery, your eye surgeon will measure your eyes in order to create your personalized treatment. EVO ICL surgery is a short but effective procedure. It will only take our team about a half hour to complete it. Ensure you have a friend or family member to drive you home the day of the surgery.
On the day of surgery, your surgeon will apply numbing eye drops to ensure that you experience little-to-no discomfort. Then, they will make a small opening in the cornea of your eye, insert the EVO ICL, and position it properly.
You will likely experience better vision right away. Your eye surgeon will provide you with recovery instructions, including antibiotics and medications that help you heal. You can return to driving about a day or so after surgery. You can return to your exercise routine about a week after surgery. Wait to wear makeup until two weeks after surgery. If you have questions about your recovery progress or instructions, your eye doctor can recommend activities based on how you are healing.
