What made you want to join the OOMC Family?

I have always imagined myself in a place where modern technology and exceptional patient care intersect.  Kremer Eye Center has a well-known reputation in our region for not only being at the forefront of the latest in surgical eye care, but also harboring a collegiality and camaraderie amongst their surgeons and staff.  It is teamwork that makes the dream work.  I look forward to being the next member of this stellar team.

Why did you decide to pursue a career as a Cataract and Glaucoma Surgeon?

As ophthalmologists, we are incredibly blessed to have a skill set where we can make impactful changes in others’ lives.  The beauty of cataract surgery is that in most cases, within one day of surgery, we can restore vision to the eye’s fullest potential and give the gift of sight.  As a glaucoma surgeon, I have found that the bar is raised even higher.  We face some of the most challenging clinical scenarios and meet those who are at risk of going blind if quick action is not taken.  To be able to prevent someone from losing their vision to an insidious disease and give them years of vision that they may have not otherwise had is pure joy.

What procedures do you perform?

I have been performing routine and complex cataract surgery for over 12 years, using the latest in premium intraocular lens technology.  I also perform all types of glaucoma surgery including trabeculectomy, tube shunt implantation, minimally invasive angle-based procedures, and end-stage glaucoma lasers.

What are some of the most unique glaucoma and cataract cases you have witnessed?

I approach each patient with a unique and tailored approach to their clinical dilemma.  Some of the most interesting (and fulfilling) cases I have had are those on whom I have performed vision saving glaucoma surgery, followed by cataract surgery to optimize their vision.  To be able to take someone from the brink of blindness to functional and optimized vision is a privilege.

What is your favorite type of surgery to perform?

It is hard to pick a favorite when you enjoy all aspects of ophthalmic surgery! But I would have to say that combined cataract and minimally invasive glaucoma surgeries are my bread and butter and what I enjoy the most.

What do you like to do when you are not at the office?

I am a huge proponent of personal wellness and maintaining homeostasis between my professional and personal lives. In addition to my day job, I am also a wife and a mother of two active toddlers! When not at the office, you can find me spending time with my family, traveling abroad, on my Peloton, or at a fitness studio.
